ATP-  arab tourism portal-Egypt s Prime Minister, Eng. Ebrahim Mahlab witnesses sunday, March 1st 2015 the reopening ceremony of Prince Mohamed Ali Palace ( Manial Palace) after the termination of its restoration project by the Ministry of Antiquities that started in 2005 due to its structural deterioration.

The Minister of Antiquities, Dr. Mamdouh Eldamaty clarified that this project was performed within the framework of the Ministry’s concern to protect the Egyptian heritage which represent the identity and future of the coming generations.

 

 

 

 

 

Eldamaty added that the palace is considered an architectural masterpiece that collects a huge number of rare artifacts.

 

 

 

 

On the other hand, the Head of Museum’s Sector, Ahmed Sharaf added that the restoration project included all the buildings of the palace in addition to reinstalling the historical ceiling at the Crown Hall, one of the most important halls at the palace which collapsed due to time factors. The project also included the construction of a new administrative building including a minute restoration lab, a lecture hall and another one for textile display.

 

 

 

 

 

Moreover, the Museum’s Restoration General Manager, Dr. Manal Abdel Monem pointed out that a restoration team from the Museum implemented the minute restoration works like cleaning the paintings, ornaments and the museum’s wooden metal and textile artifacts.

The Museum General Director, Ezzat Mohamed said that the museum consists of a number of halls and villas as the reception, living rooms, the throne room and the Gold hall in addition to a special museum built by the Prince himself to display his family’s collections as well as a Fishing Museum and the palace’s garden that is considered a museum for plants due to what it contains of rare plants brought from different countries around the world.
