SCTA President approves classification criteria for Heritage hotels
ATP- arab tourism portal- Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz, President of SCTA, has approved the criteria of heritage hotel classification recently, said the Director General of Licensing and Quality Assurance, Eng. Omar Al Mubarak.
Eng. Al Mubarak further explained that, the classification criteria of heritage hotels are in accordance with the latest international applied standards in the architectural and engineering systems in the tourism investment of heritage sites. The new criteria adopts (Saudi) Dallah logo instead of the traditional Star logo.
The Dallah is a coffee pot used to prepare Arabic coffee, which is a symbol of Saudi Arabian tradition and the Arab Gulf countries’ folklore.
“Approval of the heritage hotels classification criteria comes within a series of approvals of the criteria of accommodation sectors, such as hotels, furnished apartments and resorts,” added Eng. Al Mubarak.
Most important feature of these criteria are that the facility should meet the requirements of specialized relevant authorities in terms of security, safety and facility’s remoteness from the prohibited and hazardous areas and valleys, and should be located inside or next to a heritage site. This is in terms of the facility’s location.
On the other hand, internally the facility should include a clean and safe parking area with a main gate separate from the facility as well as showing the operation license of the facility along with the classification certificate in a visible place in the facility’s reception.
The facility building also should have good ventilation and lightening systems, also using proper heritage materials on its various equipment like, furniture and decoration in a harmonized manner. In case the facility includes a restaurant or a café, their furniture should reflect the national heritage.
