SCTA President to head Saudi delegation to 1st Conference of Tourism and Culture in Cambodia

 

 

Almasalla, ATP News- Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by SCTA and the Ministry of Culture and Information, will participate in the 1st Conference of Tourism and Culture is organized by the World Tourism Organization and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Siem Reap in the Kingdom of Cambodia

 Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz, President of SCTA will head the Kingdom’s delegation to the conference, addressing the conference as a key speaker on the efforts of the Kingdom in the cultural tourism, and King Abdullah Project for Caring of Kingdom Cultural Heritage.

 
HRH President of SCTA will also participate in the conference’s ministerial session along with more than 40 ministers of tourism and culture from around the world.

 
HRH Prince Sultan will present a working paper in the conference on national urban programs and handicraft in addition to urban heritage projects in the Kingdom and SCTA’s efforts to transform them into economic and tourist projects.

 
The conference is a fruit of world cooperation efforts and the first of its kind between World Tourism Organization and UNESCO bringing together a number of tourism and culture ministers, investors, businesspersons from all over the world

.
 
The conference aims to enhance sustainable cultural tourism , and discuss a number of issues related to the cultural tourism, in addition to strengthening international cooperation efforts in areas of tourism and culture, creating jobs, protecting the cultural and natural heritage, and discussing proper ways for investing tourism and culture in reduction of poverty.

 
Dr. Taleb Rifai the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization, in a press statement, said “this important event will allow new and unique opportunities to officials and experts in tourism and culture sectors from all over the world to discuss the correlations between tourism and culture and their investment in programs and projects contributing in reduction of poverty, creating job opportunities, protecting the heritage, promoting world understanding in a manner that enhances United Nations’ plan for world development after 2015


 
Director-General of UNESCO, Her Excellency Irina Bokova, in a press statement considered the conference as important opportunity to step up efforts of the cultural heritage’s protection, adding “culture crystallizes our identity and contributes to promote respect and tolerance among nations. It is also mean to create millions of jobs and improve people life, besides it is considered as means for mutual understanding. Cultural heritage protection should have important role in tourism sustainability which is the major message of the conference
