flydubai lands CAPA Award for "Low Cost Carrier of the Year"
Almasalla, ATP News- DUBAI, (WAM) – Dubai-based flydubai was named "Low Cost Carrier of the Year" at the 2014 CAPA Awards for Excellence in Aviation held in Antwerp, Belgium. Awarded to the most innovative and influential carrier in its peer group, flydubai achieved this distinction in just five years of operation by challenging the conventions of air travel.
The winner is selected based on industry leadership in adjusting to a new environment or setting up new trends and directions within the sector.
CAPA, Centre for Aviation is a world leading provider of independent aviation market intelligence, analysis and data services. The Awards for Excellence are independently researched by CAPA’s team of global analysts and then a final selection is made by an independent international panel of advisors.
Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at flydubai said, "We are delighted to be presented with this award by CAPA. flydubai was founded to offer both business and leisure passengers the choice to travel more often from Dubai to existing destinations and discover new destinations as well as give them the ability to select the kind of journey they wanted and how to pay for it. If, in fidelity to that founding goal, others are kind enough to say we have shown a degree of leadership and innovation then we hugely appreciate the recognition." Jeyhun Efendi, Senior Vice President Commercial (UAE, Middle East, Europe, CIS) at flydubai, represented flydubai at the Award ceremony.
CAPA Executive Chairman Peter Harbison added, "With a fleet of more than forty 737s, flydubai is already well established in the Middle East and has a long term goal to more than quadruple in size. It has established a presence in a number of hitherto underserved locations while building solid ancillary revenue streams that have delivered increasing profitability. flydubai is a successful hybrid product with a well-earned reputation for highly trained staff and an exceptional on-board experience. The outlook for 2015 and beyond is very bright." flydubai has built a network of 86 destinations, 54 of which were previously underserved from Dubai. It has established a fleet of 42 new Next-Generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft and operates more than 1,100 flights a week across the Middle East, GCC, Africa, Caucasus, Central Asia, Europe and the Indian Subcontinent.
