INDIAN OCEAN RIM ASSOCIATION (IORA) TOURISM MINISTERS HEADING FOR SEYCHELLES FOR MINISTERIAL MEETING
IORA Ministerial Meeting Tourism & Travel within the IORA Beau Vallon, Seychelles 20-21 November 2014
Almasalla, ATP News- The new Savoy Resort & Spa on Beau Vallon Beach in the Seychelles will from for the 20-21 November 2014 be hosting the Ministerial Meeting of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) which has been called under the theme :- Tourism & Travel within the IORA. Tourism Ministers are starting to arrive in Seychelles from Monday evening for what is expected to be a important gathering of Indian Ocean Rim Ministers.
The agenda is showing that Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture will be the first personality to address the Ministerial Meeting and he will be followed by H.E. Ambassador K.V. Bhagirath, the Secretary-General of IORA. who is expected to to deliver his remarks before Minister Jean Paul Adam, the Seychelles Minister of Foreign Affairs delivers his Keynote address.
The Ministerial Meeting is expected to endorse recommendations of the IORA Experts’ Sessions on Emerging Markets and Networking to increase competitiveness and market promotion on the Indian Ocean Tourism and Travel Perspectives. Points expected to be discussed also are: Maximizing Regional Development through Sustainable Tourism – Green Tourism, Bridging the gap between tourism and aviation policies – Air connectivity between the islands and Developing Cruise Tourism in the Indian Ocean.
After the adoption of the “Seychelles Tourism Declaration”, Alain St.Ange as the Host of the Ministerial Meeting will deliver his closing address.
For the IORA’s Experts’ Preparatory Meeting it is expected that it will be Anne Lafortune, the PS for Tourism in the Seychelles Ministry of Tourism and Culture who will be delivering the welcome remarks. Opening remarks are expected to be delivered by Mr. Firdaus Dahlan, the Director of the IORA Secretariat.
That preparatory meeting will discuss several topics starting with: Developing Tourism Industry with A Lesson learned from Malaysia. This topic will be followed by a discussion on the Indian Ocean Tourism and Travel Perspectives on Emerging Markets and Networking to increase competitiveness and market promotion. Speakers for this topic are expected to be Mr Pascal Viroleau, CEO of Vanilla Islands and Mrs Kumud Sengupta, co-founder & Director of Market Vision
On the topic Maximizing Regional Development through Sustainable Tourism – Green Tourism will see H.E Dr. Sapta Nirwandar, the former Vice-Minister of Tourism of Indonesia and the UN Representative UNDP for Seychelles and Mauritius and Bridging the gap between tourism and aviation policies – Air connectivity between the islands will see Speakers Vijay Poonoosamy, the Vice President International & Public Affairs at Etihad Airways and a Representative from International Transport Forum, OECD. Developing Cruise Tourism in the Indian Ocean will see the CEO of the Seychelles Ports Authority Lt Colonel Andre Ciseau and Dr. Meredith Wray, the Director International Centre for Responsible Tourism address the meeting.
