Kreol Festival in Seychelles closed as the popular Bal Asosye ended at 6am last Saturday
Almasalla, ATP News- Festival Kreol remains the event that rallies the Creole population from around the world to come together once a year to mark World Creole Day, now seen as their day set out by the United Nations.
This year it was no different as the Seychelles hosted the 29th Edition of that Festival Kreol in what was seen as a festival that bought out everything Creole. Food, music, dancing and above all the creole people themselves could be seen for the week long festival. From Seychelles itself, but also from Mauritius and Rodrigues, for La Reunion and from the Caribbean Islands they flew in to celebrate their attachment to the creole culture.
The forums around everything creole, to serenades in the streets of Victoria, to Musical shows, to opening of an Art Gallery and even recognising artists on a wall of fame it was all happening during this 29th Edition of the Festival Kreol in the Seychelles.
Seychelles is today known as being the Capital of the World of Creoles has their Creole Language as one of their three National Languages and in Seychelles the Creole language is thought at schools. It is no wonder that the gathering of everyone Creole takes place in Seychelles for their annual Festival Kreol.
The closing ceremony of this year’s event was again the popular Bal Asosye (big Creole Dance) that was this year hosted at the Reef Hotel. Some 900 plus revellers had gathered to hear Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister open the last event on the calendar of the Festival Kreol 2014. The Dance that opened at 7pm was itself the event that closed the 2014 Festival at 6am on the Saturday morning.
It was again Minister St.Ange who addressed the packed Reef Hotel at six am when he said "It is now 6am. We have all enjoyed the Bal Asosye and with a lot of satisfaction that the 2014 Festival Kreol was a total success I declare close the festival. I assure you all that the work for the 30th anniversary of our festival starts today. Festival Kreol 2015 will be bigger and even more fun" Minister St.Ange said as he closed the festival at 6am last Saturday morning.
