SCTA and KSU sign a cooperation agreement for archeological excavation and survey
 

Almasalla Arab Travel Portal News – SCTA and King Saudi University (KSU), on Thursday, 20th March, signed an agreement of cooperation at the headquarters of SCTA in Riyadh, for archeological excavation and survey in a number of archeological sites Al Khoraiba and Al Mabyat and survey in Harat Ewaired in Al Ula municipality.

 

The agreement was signed on behalf of HRH President of SCTA by Ali bin Ibrahim Al Ghabban Vice-President of SCTA for Antiquities and Museums, and signed on behalf of Dr. Badran bin Abdul Rahman Al Omar, Chancellor of KSU, by Dr. Mohammad Al Kharikh, Dean of Tourism and Antiquities Collage.
 

Dr. Al Ghabban in this context said that, the signature of the agreement falls under a joint scientific project between SCTA and KSU. The agreement comes in the framework of the enhancement of the mutual partnership between the two organizations, in both public and private sectors, which include universities and at the forefront of them comes the King Saudi University.

 

Dr. Al Ghabban commended the efforts of KSU in the development of scientific research in the field of antiquities and heritage, in addition to its contributions to the creation of a quantum leap in the archeological discoveries that assert the deep rooted history and culture of the Kingdom through the ages, also he commended the leading role of KSU in this field.
 

The agreement provides that, KSU will undertake execution of excavation works in Al Khoraiba and Al Mabyat archeological sites, in addition to undertaking survey works in Harat Ewaired in Al Ula municipality over the next five years.
 

The agreement also provides that, KSU team for those sites should include some students in order to train them on excavation and survey works besides the KSU should analyze and restore discovered items in accordance with the latest applied means for preservation of archeological material.

 

Noteworthy, signing of the agreement between SCTA and KSU falls under SCTA’s keenness to enhance cooperation with KSU in archeological excavation, survey and preservation projects.
 

SCTA and KSU had signed an agreement of cooperation to rehabilitate Al Fau archeological site November, last 2013.
