Boeing reports 1,355 net orders, 648 deliveries in 2013

Almasalla Arab Travel Portal News – Boeing booked 1,355 net commercial aircraft orders and delivered 648 aircraft in 2013, the company said Monday.

According to the manufacturer, the orders mark the second best year in company history, exceeding 2012’s previous second-best-ever high of 1,203 net orders, but not yet matching Boeing’s peak year (2007), when net aircraft orders reached 1,413.

Boeing made 648 aircraft deliveries in 2013, up 7.8% from 2012, reaching a new company record. New 2013 delivery records for the company included the delivery of 440 Next-Gen 737s, 98 777s and 65 787s.

“[Dreamliners are] now flying with 16 customers around the world,” Boeing said in a statement, effectively doubling the customer base for the aircraft in one year.

At the end of the year, “Boeing’s unfilled commercial orders stood at 5,080 [including 3,680 unfilled orders for 737s and 916 unfilled orders for 787 Dreamliners] … also a new Boeing record,” the manufacturer said.

2013’s net orders for 737s came to 1,046 aircraft, a drop of 6.9% from 2012. Net orders for 787s rebounded with 182 net orders placed in 2013, up from the -12 deficit for Dreamliner aircraft the company reported in 2012.

Airbus has not yet released its order and delivery totals for 2013. Airbus’ year-to-date total by the end of November 2013 came to 1,373 gross orders and 562 deliveries. Airbus’ net orders by the end of November came to 1,314.

By the end of November Boeing had logged 1,212 gross orders. The company reported an additional 319 orders in December, bringing its 2013 gross order cumulative total to 1,531.

Airbus is expected to release its 2013 order and delivery figures by the end of next week.
