International Tourism Mart Tawang witnessed global response: Indian Tourism Additional Secretary
Almasalla Travel News – Describing the grand success of International Tourism Mart in the promotion of Northeast India, India Tourism Additional Secretary Giri Shankar said the 2nd edition of the International Tourism Mart unexpectedly received response from countries all over the world like Germany, Australia, USA and Europe.
“Global response has been very good. About 21 foreign journalists attended the 1st Tourism Mart held in Guwahati whereas this year the number has escalated to 27 which is a substantial increase,” explained the Tourism Additional Secretary.
“Northeastern India is known as paradise unexplored. Though this region is beautiful and has great destinations to attract tourists, it is yet unexplored. That is why the Central government has decided to organise ITM in Northeast to boost tourism here. As for other states of India, we are promoting them in international travel marts and road shows held in foreign locales.”
Dismissing connectivity problems in Northeast India, Giri Shankar said road connectivity will improve within a year with the new highway coming up. He added, “New hotels and homestays have come up. We can accommodate foreign delegates. This shows the infrastructure is coming up.”
