Pilot and passenger die in light plane crash outside Shepparton airport
Almasalla Travel News – By Ashraf El gedawy – Both passenger and pilot died in a light plane crash on take-off from the Shepparton Aerodrome in Victoria s north-east.
Fire crews tried to blaze off the fire as quickly as they could on the Lancair Legacy plane as it lay in the table drain off the highway next to the airport but the pilot and the passenger could not be saved.
The plane had only been flying a matter of seconds before it crashed said CFA Shepparton duty officer Trevor Logan.
It landed in the table drain on the Goulburn Valley Hwy adjacent to the airport seconds after it took off and crashed killing both the pilot and the passenger.
A witness said that he smelt a rancid waft of smoke, like burning rubber within minutes of the planes taking off from the airport. The emergency crew reached the place within minutes but still could not rescue the two. Traffic on the highway has been blocked in both directions
