VICTORIA (Reuters) – Seychelles said on Thursday it had found two pieces of wreckage that appeared to be a plane and said it had notified Malaysia, whose flight H-370 had disappeared over the Indian Ocean in 2014 carrying 239 people.

Civil aviation officials in Seychelles said scientists searching for birds and turtles found debris in Farkahar, one of the islands that make up the Indian Ocean.

“The trend of maritime currents indicates that it may have come from the general trend where other parts of the plane were found in countries on the Indian Ocean,” a senior official told Reuters on condition of anonymity.

“The two largest pieces are 120 centimeters long and 30 centimeters wide and appear to be made of aluminum and carbon fiber,” the spokesman said.

“It may be part of the hood.”

Only a few Boeing 777 traces have been seen after more than three years of research since they disappeared in March 2014 after taking off from Kuala Lumpur en route to Beijing.
