Almasalla Travel News –The successful mid-ocean Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands carnival that is staged in the Seychelles annually is still receiving television coverage and in so doing raising the visibility of the region as a tourism destination.

On the 27th April a 7’20 film of this annual carnival by Serge Marizy and Manon le Chevallier will be on Antenne Réunion as from 18h40. This is the second film on the carnival in Seychelles that is being shown by the French producers Serge Marizy and Manon le Chevallier.

The last carnival that was staged in February was co-hosted by Seychelles, La Reunion Island, Madagascar and Zimbabwe. This carnival is now known as the carnival of carnivals as it remains unique in that it is the only carnival that has been able to attract all the best and most known carnivals from across the world  to parade together in Victoria, the Capital of the Seychelles. From Notting Hill Carnival of the UK, to the Carnival of Brazil, to Trinidad & Tobago and Italy all parade side by side with cultural troupes fro the Community of Nations. The makes this carnival stand out with a diversity in its carnival parade seen nowhere else in the world.

It is exactly this diversity that continues to attract the biggest numbers of world press and television presenters to the Seychelles to cover this unique carnival and the numbers of foreign press continues to increase annually.

Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture and the sitting President of the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands says that the region off the coast of Africa is a tourism destination in its own right.

Today six islands form part of this region’s Vanilla Islands grouping, these islands are the Seychelles, La Reunion, Mauritius, Madagascar, Comoros and Mayotte and all these islands are realistic on the need to be visible not just individually, but also as a tourism region. “We are all also aware that we need to all work together with main land Africa to bring our greater block on every tourism planning and promotional network” the Seychelles Minister St.Ange said.

The annual Carnaval International de Victoria remains the ideal event staged on a world event to showcase Africa and the Indian Ocean islands to the world.
