
The Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Antiquities Dr. Zahi Hawas will inaugurate on Tuesday the Egyptian Antiquities Exhibition at the museum of Wasida University, Japan.
The fair that will last until 9th of September in its 6th place is a part of the tour that include 10 Japanese cities.
Dr. Hawas stated that the exhibition is considered the first of its kind in Japan following absence over 15 years. It combines the discoveries of the Japanese University that was excavating for more than 40 years, that is insured by the Japanese government with a sum of $ 25 Million against acts of terrorism, sequestration, theft, confiscation and all forms of loss and damage over all monumental pieces participating in the exhibition.
The Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Antiquities pointed out that the exhibition comprises 327 antiques date back to various historical eras at the time that the fair is accompanied with a restoration expert and archeologist to guarantee safety of the participating pieces and providing the necessary restoration in case of need.
The exhibition will roam 10 Japanese cities until year 2008 and Egypt will obtain a financial reward estimated at one Million Egyptian Pounds to be paid on two installments, the first was after signing the contract, which took place already and the second was paid during this month of July.
Furthermore, an in kind reward would be represented in a set for X-ray and Laser analysis would be presented to the Egyptian museum. In addition Japan will provide four training opportunities for employees at the Supreme Council for Antiquities.
