Ministry of Culture prepares for launching 2nd stage of Civilization Museum at Fustat next month

Specialists and archeologists are describing it as one of key specialized museums in the world, as it comprises over 25000 antiquity pieces that tell stages of development of the Egyptian civilization since pre-historic eras until now.

Actually a specialized committee at the Egyptian Ministry of Culture completed the selection and classification of around 50% of these pieces, mostly from the Egyptian Museum at Al-Tahrir square, down town Cairo, Greco-Roman in Alexandria, Coptic and Islamic in Cairo.

In parallel with the establishment of this museum the selected pieces for display were restored, classified, registered and electronically authenticated, to be ready for show on completion of museum within two years. A special department will be dedicated for displaying the Royal Mummies that are in show at the present time at the Egyptian Antiquities Museum.

The Egyptian Ministry of Culture is preparing for commencing the 2nd stage of the Civilization museum to be established on an area of 25 Feddans at Fustat area adjacent to Ain El-Sira Lake with a total cost of L.E. 500 Million that is financed by Nubia Monuments Rescue Fund under full supervision from UNESCO.

The Minister of Culture Farouq Hosny by the end of the week will inspect what was completed of the project accompanied by Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Antiquities Dr. Zahi Hawas and Senior Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture Farouq Abdul Salam.
