aTP- Arab tourism portal News-The Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) now has its own corporate website aimed at making the organization more visible to visitors, trade partners and the general public.
The new website — www.seychellestourismboard.travel — was launched on Monday during the opening of STB’s 2017 mid-year marketing meeting at the Constance Ephelia Resort at Port Launay.
The Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine Mr. Maurice Loustau-Lalanne joined STB’s Chief Executive Mrs. Sherin Francis and Director of Digital Marketing, Mr. Vahid Jacob to unveil the new platform.
It features organizational details of the STB, including its corporate structure, members of the board, industry events such as trade fairs, workshops and roadshows which STB attends throughout the year, tourism arrival statistics, vacancies, newsletter, corporate press releases and other tourism related news, among other contents.
Mrs Francis said: “Especially now that we are living in an age where there is a constant need to provide data to the general public, the website will serve as the platform on which as much information on STB will be added, so that our partners can have easy access to these materials.”
Up till now, STB had built and was managing the Seychelles’ destination website, which served as both the tourism board and country’s website.

The Seychelles Tourism Board’s Director of Digital Marketing, Mr. Vahid Jacob said the decision to separate the two is based on best practices adopted by tourism boards globally.
“Most of the information featured on the new corporate website do not feature on the destination website as it would not appeal to tourists and potential visitors. The new website will be very useful for the tourism trade partners that work closely with STB, as they would be able to get most of the information needed from there,’” said Mr Jacob.
“For example if a DMC or member of the trade wants to know the tourism arrival numbers or what trade fairs STB attends, they can easily get this information from the site without having to contact STB. This is also in line with the government’s goal for all government agencies to have a dedicated website,” he added.
It has taken about a year to complete the designing and development of the website including sourcing of all the images and content.
The Digital marketing section came up with the concept and sourced all content while the actual design and development was outsourced to a web designing agency.
