Seychelles Tourism Academy… a promise made and delivered

 

 

 

ATP-  Arab tourism portal- A promise made by the Seychelles’ head of state, President James Michel in 2009 to build a new academy for the tourism students of the country has been delivered, with the official opening of the first phase of the Seychelles Tourism Academy.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

President Michel unveiled the plaque to mark this occasion yesterday at the academy in the presence of Vice-President Danny Faure, Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St Ange, members of the diplomatic corps and the National Assembly, principal secretaries, chief executive officers, high government officials, staff and students of the academy.

Addressing those present at the opening ceremony, the academy’s principal Flavien Joubert thanked President Michel and his government for making this a dream come true for the tourism industry.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Mr Joubert also echoed words of thanks to Vice-President Danny Faure, who made the decision eight years ago to change and reorganise the Seychelles’ hotel school.He called on the staff and students of the academy to appreciate and give thanks to all that they have now.“Our Seychellois students deserve the best and the best is what I expect from the team,” he added.

In his speech, Minister St Ange said with a lot of sacrifices, the Seychelles’ government has been able to deliver for the country, trade and students who are inspiring to work for the industry.


“President Michel, under your leadership has been able to deliver for the country and contribute towards its development,” he said.
“The public-private sector partnership we have, is an example for many other countries trying to find the way forward.”
If we want to say Seychelles is a five star destination, we need to have an academy of high standard, he added.

Minister St Ange echoed words of thanks to Mr Joubert for understanding the need to rise for our industry and produce quality for our tourism industry.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

On behalf of all students of the academy, Daniel Bonnelame thanked President Michel and his government for investing and believing in the youths of Seychelles.

President Michel and Vice-President Faure, accompanied by Minister St Ange and other guests were given a tour of the newly opened blocks.

They visited the library, language laboratory, the administration and hospitality management blocks, canteen and commercial kitchen and the new restaurant .
