Haiti & Seychelles Tourism Ministers meet in Port-au-Prince as UNWTO Conference on Multidestination Opportunities for Regional Integration opens
ATP- arab tourism portal- Stephanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister for Tourism and Creative Industries of Haiti and Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture met for bilateral discussions as the UNWTO Conference on Multidestination Opportunities for Regional Integration opened in Port-au-Prince in Haiti.
Minister St.Ange of the Seychelles was one of the speakers invited to address the conference that is taking place at the same time as the 58th UNWTO Regional Commission for the Americas was taking place in Haiti. The meeting was seen by the Seychelles Minister as the ideal opportunity to get the name Seychelles floated as a serious tourism destination as he shared the experiences of the islands in the Vanilla islands concept and as he tables the Seychelles Government’s strategy in place that has so far consolidated the tourism industry of the Seychelles.
Seychelles is one tourism destination where tourism remains the pillar of its economy and keeping Seychelles discussed at tourism conference is one way that helps the islands to remain relevant in the competitive world of tourism.
The Haiti Minister is also now discussing about the possibility for her to lead a Haitian Creole Delegation to the Seychelles to mark the 30th Anniversary of the Creole Festival in Seychelles this coming October. Haiti and Seychelles are bot Creole speaking islands even though they sit on the other side of the world from each other. This working visit by the Seychelles Minister is his first visit to Haiti.
