 MAS to conduct a workshop on tourism statistics in the Kingdom
 

ATP-  arab tourism portal- Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz, President of SCTA, the Tourism Information and Research Center (MAS) will conduct a workshop on “Tourism statistics in the Kingdom” on 16/3/2015.  The session will be held at Four Season Hotel in the Riyadh city, said Director General of MAS, Monzir bin Mohammad Al Ansari.

Al Ansari said that the workshop falls under MASs efforts for capacity building of human resources in the statistical field throughout the public and private sectors, and in response to the requirements of the relevant public bodies in the area of statistics

International, specialized experts representing both the public and private sectors will address the workshop, in addition to the media personnel and researchers for exchanging information and experiences.  They will discuss appropriate and potential means for developing the tourism statistics and research, and how to utilize the statistical outcomes.

The workshop will discuss a number of themes, including a seminar on tourism statistics reality in the Kingdom; measurement of social and economic impact of tourism development and tourism account and the role of media in tourism statistics.  There will be a session on convention and exhibition statistics and tourism facilities, technology in the field of tourism statistics and the best approaches for conducting statistics of events and festivals.

The workshop falls under SCTA’s efforts to develop the research and study areas in support of tourism development in the Kingdom.  The aim is to discuss the obstacles and challenges that face scientific research in the tourism field, and come up with required recommendations to tackle them, exploring national and international expertise in the application of statistics and research, and how SCTA’s partners could utilize them.  

The idea is to find joint framework to contribute to the exchange of information and cooperation, besides, highlighting the level of progress reached by tourism statistics in the Kingdom and enhancing the partners’ utilization from the tourism satellite account.
