Singapore Café Treats Gulfood Visitors to a Mouth-watering Culinary Experience
Almasalla, ATP News-Keen to savour Singapore s international food offering and exquisite flavours, hundreds of visitors thronged to the Singapore Pavilion’s café to sample its pop-up dining experience, a huge crowd draw at this year’s Gulfood exhibition.
Using premium quality, healthy yet flavourful ingredients provided by the 47 exhibiting Singapore F&B companies, chefs Lawrence Toon and Samson Lin from the country’s finest hospitality school, Singapore Hotel and Tourism Education Centre (SHATEC), served the pavilion’s guests with a scrumptious selection of iconic and globally recognised dishes. Prepared before the hungry onlookers, favourites included Hainanese Chicken Rice, Chilli Crab with Spaghetti, “Kopi” (Singapore’s local term for “coffee”) Pudding, and spicy ginger tea. The cooking demonstrations take place daily at 12:00pm, 1:30pm, 3:00pm and 4:30pm.
“Singapore, the culinary capital of Asia, is a cosmopolitan city that caters to a broad range of tastes and palates. The pop-up café at Gulfood showcases some of Singapore’s iconic dishes and provides visitors with a taste of our diverse cuisine, prepared by Singapore’s first-class industry professionals and delivered right here in Dubai,” said Mr. Budiman Mohamed Salleh, Centre Director for IE Singapore in Abu Dhabi, the government agency promoting the overseas growth of Singapore-based enterprises and international trade.
In addition to the food demonstrations and regular café service for Singapore companies and their buyers, special networking sessions allow interested importers and distributors to learn more about the Singapore F&B industry and its products. The first networking session took place on 9 February, with the second session scheduled at 5:00pm onwards on 11 February 2015.
The Singapore Pavilion and Singapore Café are located in Sheikh Rashid Hall of the Dubai World Trade Centre.
