Seychelles thankful for India Day committee s symbolic gesture
Almasalla,Gate Arab Tourism News- As Seychelles-India Day Celebrations grows bigger, funds injected by partners of the festival gets even larger. The Seychelles-India Day Celebrations committee believe that some of the large sum of money collected to stage the event, should not solely be used to fund the entertainment aspect of the event, but should that it should also incorporate a good part of it into social projects for the benefit of the people of Seychelles.
It was therefore quite fitting for the Seychelles-India Day Celebrations committee to become more pragmatic in its approach when staging the second edition of the Seychelles-India Day Celebrations to seek the guidance of Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, on which social project will be most appropriate to kick off the 2014 edition of the event.
It was the Ministry of Health who won the jackpot, as Mr V. J. Patel, the chairman of the Seychelles-India Day Celebrations committee puts it as he quoted the words of Minister St.Ange ‘’every one ends up at the hospital one way or another’’ and the Seychelles-India Day Celebrations committee presented the proposal to Ministry of Health.
Although the committee’s initial thoughts was to give a fresh look to the Casualty Unit, the Specialist and Outpatient Units was selected by the Ministry of Health. On Friday 3rdOctober, marking the beginning of second edition of the Seychelles-India Day Celebrations programme of event, the committee staged a small ceremony at the Ministry of Health to hand over the refurbished and re-painted Specialist outpatient unit.
Mr V. J. Patel said the facelift to the unit is a small and symbolic gesture to Ministry of Health and people of Seychelles.
‘When we were planning to stage the second edition of the Seychelles-India Day Celebrations, we adopted a policy of spending a good part of the money collected for the event on social projects that would be beneficial for the people of Seychelles‘’ Mr V.J. Patel said.
Mr Patel said the facelift of the unit will improve the comfort of workers and patients. It was pointed out that four hundred patients use the unit on a daily basis.
‘’ People with pain will have a pleasant surrounding while awaiting and consulting their doctors. Staff who work in the unit will be more comfortable working in a fresh and renovated environment. In return patients will feel that they are also made comfortable’’ Mr V. J. Patel said.
Health Minister Mitcy Larue thanked the Seychelles –India Day Celebrations committee for investing in the Ministry of Health and re-affirmed her Ministry’s commitment to build a strong partnership with the Seychelles Indian community.
Minister St.Ange was present to witness the handing over the completion of work on the building.
