Seychelles confirms that Constance Lemuria Resort, Paradise Sun Hotel and Hotel L Archipel clinches top prizes in the Praslin Culinary & Arts Fiesta

 

 
Almasalla,Gate Arab Tourism News- Constance Lemuria Resort, Paradise Sun Hotel and Hotel L  Archipel of Louis D Offay have clinched first prizes in the Praslin culinary competition for professional chefs organised as part of the first-ever festival for the island dubbed as the Praslin Culinary & Arts Fiesta.
 

Chefs from eight of the top hotels on the island of Praslin gave the best of their imagination and creativity to present classy-looking dishes to a panel of jury from the Seychelles Tourism Academy so that the best possible in Seychelles can be awarded their recognition.
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The judging of the fish and meat dishes and desserts took place at Le Domaine de La Reserve hotel.
 

Creativity, taste, texture, presentation, colour, edibility garnish and temperature of dishes were among the list of criteria the judges used.
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Constance Lemuria Resort was the top winner in the fish category, followed by Iles des Palmes Hotel of Christopher Gill in second position while Le Duc de Praslin Hotel of Robert Payet settled in third position.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The best in the meat category was Paradise Sun Hotel which went the extra mile clinching the first prize while Le Domaine de La Reserve of Joe Albert won second prize and Hotel L’Archipel of Louis D’Offay came out third.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Hotel L’Archipel of Louis D’Offay managed however to wow members of the jury with its dessert which looked simple and yet it was everything but. The hotel’s classy dessert was judged as the best among the eight desserts presented to the jury.
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Raffles Resort Praslin also impressed the panel of judges as their dessert was the second place winner. Le Duc de Praslin Hotel of Robert Payet had its fair share of success in the competition, as the hotel won another third prize. Chef Kevin Francois’ dessert made an impression on the judges with its perfectly decorated plate, and tasty-looking sweet dish.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Seychelles Tourism Board’s News Bureau team managed to speak to some of the chefs and representatives of the winning hotels.
 

Winning prizes in two categories is a feat for four-star hotel like Hotel L’Archipel and Le Duc de Praslin Hotel. Robert Payet, the Owner of Le Duc de Praslin said he was satisfied with his chefs Kevin Francois and Hubert Delcy for their great team work and for putting their creativity at the forefront.Mr Payet added that these dishes will surely be an ambrosial addition to his hotel’s new menu.

The team at Paradise Sun Hotel were overjoyed with their first prize in the meat category, a dish which Keiran Lesperance prepared.
 

Arnold Lefournour from Le Domaine de La Reserve of Joe Albert won second prize in the meat category said he is very happy but was not expecting to win.
 

Head of the jury Richard Mathiot from the Seychelles Tourism Academy said the panel remained very satisfied with the dishes prepared and all were above the jury’s expectations, especially the desserts. Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture was present at the prize giving ceremony together with Ministers Sinon and Larue as well as the Elected Members of the National Assembly for Praslin, the Hon Volcere and the Hon Esther and CEO of the Tourism Board Sherin Naiken, PS for Culture Benjamine Rose, CEO of the National Arts Council Jimmy Savy and Principal of the Tourism Academy Flavien Joubert.

 

Minister St.Ange said that the Tourism Establishments on the Island of Praslin had shown their ability to bring the Seychellois Creole Culture into culinary delights and that he wished that hotels in Seychelles take Praslin as an example in putting the island’s culture at new heights and ensuring that visitors to Seychelles see, hear and appreciate the unique Seychellois Creole Culture.
