Kilian Jornet named sacred Adventurer of 2014
Almasalla Arab Travel Portal News – Kilian Jornet has been named Adventurer of the Year 2014 by National Geographic. Competing alongside thirteen other candidates, the Spanish rider, known to run the hills of Reunion Island, has obtained the largest number of votes from readers of the US magazine.
Every year for nine years, the American magazine awards the title of Adventurer of the Year. In 2014, Kilian Jornet, ahead of thirteen other candidates competing for the prestigious title, became the Adventurer for 2014. This year, nearly 75,000 people took part in the vote that crowned Kilian Jornet – a record of participation registered by the magazine.
Kilian Jornet, who participated three times in the “Diagonal of Fools,” including two victories in 2010 and 2012, is considered a true iconic figure of the “Grand Raid Reunion Island.” The Grand Raid, a new World Circuit Ultra Trail World Tour, will be open October 23 to 26, 2014. The final rounds of the Diagonal of Fools circuit is held alongside eight other steps ranked among the toughest in the world.
Congratulations to Kilian Jornet, affectionately called the alien, who has added one more title to his name on top of his already impressive 26 years of adventuring.
