Minister of Tourism Zuhair Garrana confirmed the willingness of Ministry for participation in financing a marketing campaign for the region of Taba and Nuweibea, to be well studied and well prepared targeting a number of promising markets as for these tourism destinations.
In a meeting with members of the Nuweibea and Taba investors Association the Minister said that the ministry is continuous in Charter motivation program for Taba city and will continue in this program until realizing the hoped occupation rates in both districts.
He added that the study proved that internal tourism of Sharm El-Sheikh city does not exceed 5%, while prime dependence is on incoming tourism from Europe and abroad directly to Sharm El-Sheikh, which ensures operation of a direct regular line between Cairo and Taba would have no much influence over tourism movement.
In addition it would not achieve any economic benefit for Egypt Air company.
The Minister pointed out that Dr. Farouq El-Oqda Governor of the Central Bank and Banks Federation expressed readiness for supporting investors in the districts that exposed to events that led to shrinking in occupation and they are still express great readiness for cooperation, as the topic of dropping interests is not logic and there should be a search for another formula like rescheduling debts or granting grace periods for the investors.
President of Investors Association at Taba Nuweibea area Farid Khamis and investors asserted that the most imminent problems that face the region is ceasing the direct airline between Cairo and Taba, paying attention to propaganda and publicity of both districts of Nuweibea and Taba, developing the services establishments in the region like hospitals and treatment units and the request of a number of investors for rescheduling their debts with Egyptian banks.
Farid Khamis said that all tourism investors are passing through difficult periods at beginning of operation of their projects and that investors of Taba and Nuweibea region in particular have focused their efforts on particular market, which is a matter that would lead to collapse of the tourism system in case of shrinking in that market.
