DUBAI WORLD TRADE CENTRE SETS RECORD FOR NUMBER OF WEDDINGS BOOKED FOR 2007

Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), operators of one of the most popular wedding venues in the UAE, announced today that it has broken the all-time record for the number of weddings booked in a month, and is on-course to host the highest number of weddings in its history in 2007.
Before the end of May, Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre was already booked to host 68 weddings in July 2007 – an increase of over 50 percent on the previous year. The total number of weddings booked has already significantly surpassed the total hosted in 2006, and the numbers are set to rise as the season enters its busiest period.

Summer is traditionally the “high season” for weddings in the UAE, with groups of up to 1,000 people attending the ceremonies and strong demand for high standards of hospitality and décor, particularly at ladies events.

DWTC has invested significantly in training and developing a team capable of delivering a unique experience, supported by its advanced facilities.

“The records set in 2007 demonstrate the role played by DWTC in the community and the depth of our understanding of the needs of the local market. We are honoured that so many families opt to host their special occasions at our premises and will continue to ensure that we provide the highest standard of experience,” said Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General, Dubai World Trade Centre.

DICEC offers a number of venues for weddings, including the popular Al Multaqua Ballroom, capable of hosting up to 600 guests; the Maktoum Hall; the 4,000 capacity Sheikh Rashid Hall, and even the largest Za’abeel Hall.

DICEC also offers the UAE’s largest selection of special dishes, cutlery, and linens to complement its renowned multi-cuisine catering, which has received international recognition.

“We aim to surpass the expectations of our clients by offering detailed, hands-on assistance. We allow them to celebrate their wedding in the most memorable way possible by ensuring that every last detail is taken care of,” said Afra Al Basti, Executive Manager – Weddings & Outside Catering, Dubai World Trade Centre.

In addition to large-scale wedding events, the DWTC also offers special bridal packages that cater to clients with smaller sizes and budgets. These will be available on a limited basis throughout 2007.
