Performing Arts Representatives meet Seychelles Minister responsible for Culture & National Arts Council
 

 

Almasalla,Gate Arab Tourism News- Ralph Amesbury, the Chairman of SEYMAS, the Performing Arts Association met last week with Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture in the presence of Jimmy Savy, the CEO of the National Arts Council of Seychelles.
 

Ralph Amesbury was accompanied at the meeting at the Ministry of Tourism and Culture ESPACE Offices by Berno Cedras and Patel Esparon.
 

The meeting was an opportunity for the Performing Arts Association to table the challenges they face in the consolidation of their industry. Major issues that had been brought forward by the Association’s Members that were tabled was a place acceptable for open air performances and for paying events, performers acting as DJs on Radio Seychelles and giving preference to their own songs earning them performers rights royalty each time their song is played, the proposed ‘back to roots’ Moutya Festival at Val dan Dor where culture in agriculture can be showcased amongst others.
 

The question of foreign musical bands performing in hotels as well as the licensing of Events Organisers were also tabled for discussion.
 

The Performing Arts Representatives meeting falls under the open door policy put in place by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture to receive Associations representing Culture in all its form and Tourism related Bodies.
