Egyptian Supreme Council for Antiquities confirm that Tut Statue head captured in Qena is an imitation not an antique

The Supreme Council for Antiquities confirmed that Stuatue Head captured by the Police at Nakada district, Qena governorate is not an antique, that was related to Pharaoh Tut Ankh Amoun. The Council in a statement pointed out that the report of the Ad Hoc committee formed by the Secretary General of the Council Dr. Zahi Hawas proved that the head is an imitation and have no antique value.

Dr. Hawas said that he presented a report containing all details and work of the committee to the Minister of Culture Farouq Hosny. He called upon the concerned Security Bodies to seek help of the archeologists at the council for inspecting the findings before announcement to ensure that the captured pieces are antiques or imitations.

Dr. Zahi Hawas had suspicions in previous statements at time of declaration of Police of coincidentally finding the imitated head in possession of a merchant in Qena, as regards of the possibility of existence of monumental pieces for the golden Pharaoh Tut Ankh Amoun other than those discovered by Carter, especially as the treasury of Tut Ankh Amoun is the most complete Royal treasury discovered and it was transported in full to the Egyptian museum and it numbers 5000 pieces only.
