Sofitel Cairo El Gezirah won Earthcheck Silver Award 2014
Almasalla,Gate Arab Tourism News- EarthCheck Silver award presented to Sofitel Cairo El Gezirah Hotel in recognition of the hotel’s commitment to implementing world-class sustainability initiatives.
EarthCheck, managed and owned by EC3 Global, is an internationally recognised environmental management and certification program with members in over 80 countries. It’s the world’s leading environmental Benchmarking and Certification program for the travel and tourism industry.
The program improves operational performance of member organizations and reduces costs. Recent studies show that six million people a week are impacted by EarthCheck branded solutions.
Under the guidance of the EarthCheck Certified program and Sofitel’s Planet 21 program, Sofitel Cairo El Gezirah key sustainability initiatives include using eco-friendly cleaning products, training personal on responsible actions towards the environment and reducing waste by reusing, recycling and composting.
Sofitel Cairo El Gezirah had to meet strict environmental sustainability criteria under the EarthCheck Standard, and validate their performance through a process of annual benchmarking and regular audits that are conducted by an independent third party.
The hotel has consistently met criteria including energy and water consumption, total waste production and community commitment.
