Artist Dédé Saint Prix goes to Seychelles to join the Creole Community of the 28 Edition of the Festival

 

Almasalla Travel News – Special Reports – This year s edition of Festival Kreol will take on a truly global feel – with even the participation of Martinique s known and well-loved artist, Dédé Saint Prix.

 

Mr Saint Prix is due to land in Seychelles early this week accompanied by his merry band of musicians – just in time to take part in the 2013 Festival Kreol in Victoria, the Creole Capital of the World.
 
 
Dédé Saint Prix was born 10 February 1953. He is a Martinique singer of traditional chouval bwa music. He has used elements of modern styles in his recordings, including tambour, hip hop music, charanga, ragga, son, zouk, kompa and rara. He has been performing for more than 38 years and has released at least 25 albums. He is also a composer and flautist.
 
 
After a foray into jazz album Kaladjazz in November 2012, Mr Saint-Prix returned to his love for salsa "Raices y Culturas" (roots and cultures), the rhythm of the congas and brass Latino.
 
 
The album, which mixes traditional Martinican music and Cuban music, was recorded in Cuba, Martinique and France with artists from these countries. Influences which are bound to be highlighted during his shows in Seychelles.
 
 
Mr Saint Prix arrival in Seychelles and ensuing performance in Victoria, Creole Capital of the World, follows in the festival Kreol’s tradition of hosting musicians from the Creole speaking islands of the Caribbean.
 
 
Previous well-known acts to have featured in the annual festival are Kassav and Zouk Machine.
 
 
This year the Creole musicians from Seychelles will be performing alongside those coming from La Reunion, Mauritius, Rodrigues,  Martinique and Hai
