aTP-  Arab tourism portal News- Seychelles welcomed the Costa neoRomantica on Sunday at its port with some 900 guests onboard. The ship left Seychelles on Monday evening, heading to Reunion island and then to Mauritius.

 


 
The Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St.Ange paid a courtesy call on the captain and crew members onboard Costa neoRomantica before it left Port Victoria.
 

 


He was accompanied by the principal secretary for tourism Anne Lafortune, chief executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board Sherin Francis, Chairman of the Ports Authority Raymond St.Ange, deputy chief executive of the Seychelles Ports Authority Gary Albert and representatives from the department of transport.
 

 


Minister St.Ange and his delegation were met by the ship’s captain Gianfranco La Fauci and members of his management team.

 


 
“We feel that it is important for us to meet and formally welcome the cruise ships that make port calls here. It is needed for us to establish a bond and see how we can work together,” the Minister said.
 

 


“Cruise tourism is an important part of our tourism industry, and as a country we must continue to work together with the region to bring more development in the tourism industry of the Indian Ocean region.” Minister St.Ange said.

 

 

 

 

 


 
The Seychelles Minister added that the Vanilla Islands Organisation is working hard to increase the number of cruise ships visiting the Indian Ocean region.
 

 


Captain La Fauci thanked Minister St.Ange for the warm welcome received in Seychelles. He added that passengers and crew members enjoy cruising to Seychelles as the islands offer tranquility and security.
 

 


“Our guests are happy to come here as there is always a warm welcome reserved for them, they enjoy the excursions and love beauty of the islands,” he added.

 


 
Most of the 900 passengers onboard the cruise ship hail from European countries such as Germany, Spain and France. The cruise started in Amsterdam, on September 3, went to Portugal, Spain, Italy and in the Mediterranean Sea.

 


 
Captain Gianfranco said the new cruise season for the ship will start in the Indian Ocean, whereby new passengers will board in Mauritius and Reunion.

 


 
At the end of the courtesy call, souvenirs were exchanged, as a way to remember this memorable moment on board this luxury floating resort.
