Arab Tourism rated first in Lebanon Tourism

A statement issued by the Lebanese Ministry of Tourism showed that Arab citizens occupied first rank in incoming tourists list to Lebanon during the period of the first half of present year.

Data of July month issued by Statistics Department at the Lebanese Ministry of Tourism showed a 45.2% retreat compared with year 2005 and 68.34% from year 2006.

Rate of Arab tourists reached 37% out of all tourists visited Lebanon in the first half of year 2007, while European tourists occupied 2nd position with a rate of 28% of total tourists.

It should be noted that the Lebanese Tourism sector was highly affected by the political and security events witnessed by Lebanon in the last three years, where the basic festivals that used to take place at the city of Balbak and Beit El-Din village were cancelled, while the tourism establishments are incurring successive losses due to the pressing political crisis.
