The property is the first hotel in the Ajman to secure the certification, which is the result of its creative approach to sustainable management.

Ramada Ajman is the first in the UAE to launch a compost project for hotels, and also engages an energy-saving scheme, and a variety of awareness campaigns highlighting sustainability.

The hotel is already recognised for its leadership in UAE having utilized its on-site food composter to pursue a Zero Landfill target. This initiative has also led to the creation an urban farm growing local seasonal crops and vegetables used daily by the hotel kitchen.

Ramada Ajman gained a strong reputation as a sustainability ambassador in Ajman, coordinating an environmental drawing competition in 2013 reaching out to 2,500 students and their families.

Along with the Zero Landfill target some of the sustainable practices incorporated in the daily operations of the 388-roomproperty include recycling of waste material including paper, bottles, cans and glass, cost-effective measures to reduce water and electricity consumption in the guest rooms and offices, and regular training of staff to help spread awareness among the guests and community.

The certification was officially presented by Sandrine Le Biavant, Director of Consultancy of Farnek Middle East, Green Globe’s preferred partner in the region which provides consultancy and auditing on behalf of the organisation.

Iftikhar Hamdani, General Manager, Ramada Hotel  Ajman, commented, “The Green Globe certification is a further testament to our continuous commitment in sustainability through our efficient waste management system, water and energy conservation practices, and awareness campaigns within our team and in the hospitality industry. It took the property a year to prepare for the audit and fulfil with the high standards set by Green Globe, to make sure that we are on the right track. I would like to commend the team for all their efforts as we are finally able to secure the esteemed certification.”

Le Biavant of Farnek Middle East remarked, “We are pleased to welcome Ramada Hotel Ajman in the growing list of Green Globe-certified hotels in the UAE.

The property has been an ambassador in terms of sustainability in the tourism and hospitality industry in Ajman and the Northern Emirates, and we are positive that more ideas will be carried out in the future.”
