13 Spanish companies confirmed their commitment to sustainable tourism
 


Thanks to the collaboration agreement reached by the World Tourism Organization (WTO) and the Spanish Global Compact Network thirteen Spanish companies have joined in the commitment to develop practices of corporate social responsibility advocate for sustainable tourism.Under the title ‘Responsible tourism: a commitment for all’ initiative which launches on September 19 highlights the role of tourism enterprises to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (ODS).

 

 

 

 

 

 

aTP-  Arab tourism portal News- The Sustainable   development Goals (ODS) including tourism as an effective tool in the three pillars of sustainable development – economic, social and environmental – are the new global agenda for a more just and equal world that simultaneously preserve resources natural. The involvement of the private sector in this process is essential and has been identified as key to the implementation of the new Agenda 2030.

 


"We are witnessing a key moment to consolidate a more sustainable tourism, respectful of the environment and local cultures, because in a few months will begin the International Year for Sustainable Tourism Development 2017, an unprecedented milestone in the involvement and commitment of the private sector becomes an essential component, "says the secretary General of the World Tourism Organization, Taleb Rifai.

 

The involvement of the 13 Spanish companies in the agreement between the World Tourism Organization and the Spanish Network of the Global Compact is the implementation of a series of initiatives on corporate social responsibility that will be reflected in a site created for this purpose , which includes an e-publication, testimonial videos and compilation of good practices.

 


Also responsible for these companies have signed the principles of the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism and the 10 principles of the Global Compact, which address areas such as quality jobs, the local impact of business operations, innovation, education, rights and human health.

 


"This initiative is a pioneer not only by the involvement of the private sector in the Agenda 2030 but also by the need to involve key stakeholders in the sector achieving a responsible and sustainable tourism.

 

Pose a challenge of its kind in the third most visited in the world offers interesting possibilities to replicate this project global country, "says Angel Pes, President of the Spanish Network of the Global Compact.

 


Companies that are part of the working group that has deployed actions are: Europa Mundo Vacaciones SL, Formagrupo, Fuerte Hoteles SL, Iberia, Ilunion Hotels (Group Ilunion SA), Minube, NH Hotel Group SA, Ostelea, School of Tourism & Hospitality, Port Aventura, RENFE, Segittur, Tarannà Travel sense and Viajes El Corte Inglés (El Corte Ingles SA).
