Turquoise Mountain Foundation and National Handicraft Program enter into cooperation agreement

 

 

Almasalla, ATP News- Turquoise Mountain Foundation, patronized and supported by HRH Prince Charles, British Crown Prince and Prince of Wales, and the National Handicraft Program (Bari), of SCTA, have entered into a cooperation agreement.



The cooperation agreement was signed in Al Ula municipality under the patronage of HRH Prince Charles, British Crown Prince and HRH Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz, President of SCTA, on the sidelines of HRH Prince Charles’ visit to Al Ula on Wednesday, 11th February.



The signing ceremony was attended by HRH Prince Mohammad bin Nawaf bin Abdul Aziz, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the United Kingdom, HRH Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz Governor of Al Madina, who is the Chairman of Al Madina Tourism Development Council, in addition to Al Madina Secretary General, Dr. Khalid Taher, and Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Simon Collis.



The agreement aims at promoting handicrafts in Saudi Arabia, and support Saudi artisans through the development of skills with the trainers of the Turquoise Mountain Foundation to produce more of handicrafts capable for being sold inside and outside the Kingdom.



The agreement also is expected to select the targeted crafts for development in the Kingdom, providing required technical and professional support to a selected group of artisans, developing a number of profitable craft products for the retail market as souvenirs for hotels as well as establishing an exhibition to display live models of Islamic art, traditions and crafts.


Furthermore, the agreement aims to spur professional and scientific exchange for students, teachers and artisans between the Turquoise Mountain Foundation and Bari, as well as promoting mutual cooperation for the development of some of the heritage villages in the Kingdom.



The Turquoise Mountain Foundation was founded in 2006 at the initiative of HRH Prince Charles, Prince of Wales for the revival of traditional handicrafts, restoration, and preservation of historic places.
